I am sure you know that hydration is the cornerstone of good health!

But did you know that drinking enough clean water affects your skin, especially as we age? Maintaining the suppleness and vitality of the skin, particularly in the delicate neck area, can be as simple as making sure you drink enough water. Every day. you have to do it, not just read about it.!

However, you need to drink clean, pure water. Polluted water is hard on our health and oftentimes makes us not want to drink water in the first place. Our kidneys have to work overtime filtering all the pollutants out of the water, and now they are finding even residue of medicines in municipal waters, as the municipal water treatment plants are not able to keep up with the immense load of medicine that is entering our wastewater. A study from 2016, detected more than 100 different pharmaceutical substances in the aquatic environments of several European countries. In Germany and Spain, more than 30 different pharmaceuticals were detected in tap water.

That makes our tap water potentially harmful to our health. Read more about this HERE.

Have you ever noticed that regular tap water doesn’t taste good, or smells like chlorine, and you find that you simply don’t drink it?

We need to feel good about what we drink and trust the source of our water.

What water source can you trust? Many people resort to bottled water. Apart from the fact that it is expensive, and wastes tons of resources, is not Earth Friendly, as it requires bottles to be made, and to be shipped, and we spend resources getting it.

To make matters worse, bottled water is often very polluted!

A new study has found that the average bottle of water contains nearly a quarter million fragments of “nano plastics” — plastic particles so small they can potentially gum up the machinery of human cells.m see info by  HILL.

All right, let’s agree on the fact that we do need water to stay healthy, and keep ourselves hydrated and that we need clean water. I will help you find answers later.

So, my next question is: Do you know how much water and fluids you should drink per day?

You will be surprised to read that the MAYO CLINIC suggested that a healthy adult living in a temperate climate needs…. a lot of fluids/ water. The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined that an adequate daily fluid intake is:

  • About 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day for men
  • About 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women

These recommendations cover fluids from water, other beverages, and food. About 20% of daily fluid intake usually comes from food and the rest from drinks.

That is a lot of fluids and most people don’t drink nearly enough water. Just ask yourself: “How much water and fluids do YOU consume per day?

We are often too busy and computers/cell phones have a way of making us forget to drink more water. Have you noticed that too?

* Did you know that not just your skin but your kidneys and intestines can only do their job effectively if you drink adequate amounts of fluids? Most people think they need to take a laxative, when in fact they simply need to hydrate more. It is that simple!

* Did you know, that dehydration can masquerade as hunger? Yes, we often reach for a snack, even if all we need is water.,

Here is a Hack: Keep a water bottle (not made of plastic) handy! It encourages you to drink more water, helping you avoid unnecessary snacking and keeping your body well-hydrated.

What helps in the hydration process?

Water is a miracle worker for the skin. However, without minerals the water simply flushes out and through us and does not hydrate the cells.

Even worse, demineralized water literally steals minerals from our bodies.

Demineralized water is hungry for minerals and will pull them from your bones, and cells, to return to the natural pH for water.

Therefore never drink water that is depleted of minerals, such as distilled water, (you are not a steam iron) and even rainwater. It is all demineralized. Believe me, I experienced it firsthand.

When we used to live in Hawaii we had to live off of rain water which is similar to drinking distilled water. It took me a little while to figure out why I got leg cramps within a week of coming to our Hawaii home. It was because I did not have enough electrolytes.

Many people have thought that drinking distilled water would be the answer. However, demineralized water without any further enrichment is not appropriate for drinking and long-term consumption of such water types may result in various health risks, says a study carried out by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Minerals help maintain elasticity and suppleness in the skin because electrolytes pull the water into the cell, where they then do the cleaning. So my Aruyvedic Therapist was right, I didn’t have wrinkles on my neck much like people who love to drink coffee and tea, both are dehydrating agents, but I also rehydrated by making sure I took electrolytes. My husband and I have used TRACE MINERALS for over 3 decades, which have helped me personally elevate kidney pain, muscle cramps, and low energy.

Additional Hydration Tips:

Try to infuse your water: If plain water doesn’t excite you, try infusing it with fruits like lemon, berries, or cucumbers. Not only does this enhance the taste, but it also adds vitamins and antioxidants that are great for your skin.

And remember to hydrate before meals or about 30 minutes after you have eaten: Drinking a glass of water before each meal can prevent overeating and drinking 30 minutes after your meal allows for the full digestive juices to do their job, and then afterward helps in better digestion

Finally set reminders: It’s easy to forget to drink water during our busy days. Utilizing the power of your phone by setting reminders on your phone that alert you can be an excellent way to stay on track.
