India is known to be the land of the Yogis, the Mystics, the Saints. If you’ve ever longed to glimpse beyond the ordinary, to experience the subtle realms that whisper to our deeper senses, then a trip to India surely would offer such encounters. Allow me to take you on a journey that unfolded in 1996 — one that opened a door into the extraordinary for me in India.

How We Found a Hidden Pyramid in India

It all began with Don’s book “Regaining Wholeness Through The Subtle Dimensions”  being translated into Japanese. One day Don and I spoke with the translator, a gifted artist, about the power of pyramids. Not just the regular ancient wonders of Egypt, but a very special one nestled in the lesser-known region of Kurnool, India, in the state of Andhra Pradesh.  He had just  returned from a trip to India where he was looking for Saints. He raved about a tiny ashram — not one of the famous centers like that of the then-renowned (and now deceased) Sai Baba, who was renowned for producing holy Ashes (Vibuti) from the palms of his hands, but a modest, hidden gem he had discovered: a meditation pyramid guided by a mysterious figure simply named PatriJi.

An Invitation into the Unknown

As fate would have it, he arranged for us to be invited to join a group of 20 Japanese Radionic practitioners, who all had wanted to meet Don, and who were seekers of the paranormal, on a pilgrimage to India. The regular group just stopped at the famous Sai Baba Ashram in Whitefield. However, some of us wanted to explore this rather obscure small Pyramid Ashram not so far away. The Indian participants had watched videos of different Indian gurus materializing objects from thin air, like the famous Vibhuti, but also jewelry and more. Now they longed to see such miracles with their own eyes.

An Unexpected Meditation

Our expectations were high, and we had already seen some rather spectacular manifestations, albeit it was often Indian jewelry that was being produced. But Sai Baba, so the story goes, had also manifested a Rolex watch. As we arrived at this pyramid Ashram, we were told that the Guru himself was not available. 

Slightly let down, still, we were welcomed to enter the pyramid and meditate.

Quietly we filed into the large concrete structure, capable of holding about 40 people. It was hot inside and pitch dark, except for tiny vents at the apex allowing for faint ventilation. 

A few of the local Indians from the Ashram also joined us. Quietly we all settled in, bracing ourselves for a spiritual experience, as best as we could muster our stillness in such a hot and humid environment.

Gently the melodic sound of a bansuri flute began to fill the darkness of the pyramid.

The sound was ethereal, mysterious. and I felt that the flute sound itself was reaching inside us and lifting our consciousness to finer dimensions. I felt as if we were being pulled upward through the apex of the pyramid by the flute or even the flute player.

And then something extraordinary happened. In my inner vision, a being greeted me beyond the pyramid’s peak. As if he was busy pulling each and everyone of us out of the apex, (what a symbolic gesture in and of itself).  Once I was out, he instructed me to help pull the others upward as well.

Engulfed in this inner ascension of all of us, I suddenly felt a wave of energy flashing through me.  It was like a jolt of light had hit me.

A Glowing Being Appears

Dazzled I opened my eyes briefly to see what was going on. Just a few feet in front of me, right were the flute player I saw this being with a vibrant golden, glowing aura!  The light radiated about 1- 2 feet out from him, in golden yellow light, extending in every direction around him. The bansuri flute was still playing. Could this radiant being be the flute player?

“This being is mentally enlightened” were the words that shot into my mind. 

I continued to float in this bliss, awe and marveled at the journey through the apex of the pyramid, the vision, the jolt and the fact that this was just the Bansuri Flute player.

Meeting PatriJi

But then came the surprise. The meditation came to a gentle close, and we stepped out into the bright sunlight. We were invited to sit in the shade of some trees on blankets laid out on sandy soil.

There was now the Bansuri Flute player, a man in a simple white Kurti, with a serene white beard and a twinkle in his eye.

It was PatriJi, the Guru and Master from the Pyramid Ashram himself,

Though we thought we were just sitting with the Bansuri Flute player, we had been sitting with the Master himself during this meditation.

Now everything started to make sense.

As we gathered for Q&A, someone asked about miracles, specifically, about the kind of materializations we had hoped to witness.

PatriJi’s answer was one I’ll never forget: “Manifestation isn’t for show,” he said calmly. “It’s used when needed. Only when needed.”

True Mastery

His humility struck a deep chord in me. We had seen demonstrations at other Ashrams where jewelry, as I mentioned, often ornate Indian trinkets, which were pulled from palms.

But this Master wasn’t here to dazzle us. He was here to awaken us. Now the vision of him pulling us out of the Apex made even more sense. Much like soul’s Journey into awakening, the pyramid’s apex represents the transition from the dual world to the non-dual world.

PatriJi didn’t call himself “Master,” no, he called everyone else Master. He called everyone a Buddha!

“Be the Buddha,” he said. “Don’t chase after something. Just be it.”

A Gift and a Calling

And then came our Goodbye. When we offered to leave a donation, he waved it off. “We don’t ask for money,” he smiled. “We have our Sangha. Our needs are simple.”

At that time, there was no large following. No global acclaim. The 5,000-person pyramid outside Bangalore hadn’t yet been built. But PatriJi’s vision was clear and strong: To spread meditation, vegetarianism, and self-realization around the globe.

A Farewell That Was Only the Beginning

As we said our good-bye, he gently took Don and me to the side. He told us: “Teach meditation.”

We had been doing that since the mid-1980s, but for him to point this out was even more of a blessing.

The next morning, a bag filled with books appeared on the handle of our hotel door. How did they find us? We didn’t leave an address with the Ashram. Inside the bag and books, we found a humble note requesting us to donate our own books (Don’s books and my Wisdom of the Dolphins book as well) to their lending library.

Since then, our paths have intertwined in so many ways. First, we were featured in the Ashram’s magazine, and soon we were regularly invited to speak at the Global Congress at the now-famous Pyramid Valley, where Jasmuheen Dr. Patrick Porter, Dr, Newton Kondaveeti, and many others spoke as well.

We felt part of a growing wave of consciousness he helped spark, ourselves feeling the utmost dedication to teach consciousness awakening and vegetarianism globally.

The Deeper Truth

This encounter taught me something precious:
Magic unfolds when we are ready to see it.

When you reach beyond your five senses, trust your inner sight, and ask sincerely for truth, the universe responds. Who you are determines what you encounter. 

Therefore: Be The Change You Wish To See. And dare to dream. Ask for the truth. It will be given.
