Morning Dance of Love – Lessons from Seahorses
This morning, as the sun rose and Don and I lay cuddling in bed, he caressed my ears to wake me up gently. His loving touch brought to mind the lives of dolphins and even seahorses. Yes, you read that right. Did you know that both dolphins and seahorses snuggle, caress and love each other in ways we humans would be in awe at?
Even as a child, I felt a profound connection to the ocean’s creatures, imagining myself as a guardian not only for dolphins but for endangered seahorses too. My sister and I used to weave imaginary tales together, but what made it extraordinary was our telepathic bond. We could see and share each other’s stories effortlessly. Together, we embarked on epic quests to protect the seahorses, pouring our hearts into their imagined struggles and triumphs.
Did you know about the tender and extraordinary lives of seahorses? These graceful beings celebrate love in ways that feel almost magical. Every morning, as the sun rises, they greet their partner with a “good morning” dance, intertwining their tails and glowing with vibrant colors of joy. Their devotion and connection serve as a gentle reminder of the beauty and depth love can hold.
These little beings, so often overlooked in the vastness of the ocean, remind us of something profound. They are monogamous, choosing their partner for life, and nurturing each other through affection and presence. Even their way of creating life is a team effort – the female entrusts her eggs to the male, who lovingly carries them until they hatch. A true partnership of giving and receiving.
Throughout the day, seahorses swim side by side, exchanging gestures of connection, forgiving little quarrels, and simply being together. They embrace the present, enjoy the beauty around them, and savor the abundance life offers (like the 3,000 tiny shrimp they feast on daily).
These delicate, slow-moving creatures, masters of patience and presence, whisper an eternal truth: Love, in its purest form, thrives in the rhythm of devotion, forgiveness, and shared joy.
What if we greeted our loved ones each morning with a “dance” of gratitude and color, just like the seahorses? What if we slowed down to cherish life’s little moments, intertwining our lives with tenderness and trust?
Seahorses might be small, but their message is boundless: Love is not just a feeling—it’s a daily practice. In many ways, Don and my love mirror theirs—a playful, tender way of living together, and being deeply connected. Over the years, Don and I have shared miraculous experiences with dolphins, as I recount in several of my books. While dolphins and seahorses are vastly different, both have inspired me in how to nurture, love, and bring harmony to our lives.
How can you dance with love in your own life?
